Andrea wanted a bike that could support wider tires so she could ride on less well-groomed terrain more comfortably. So, I put a bunch of spare parts on this gorgeous Clem Smith Jr. frameset from Rivendell. It’s got the typical drivetrain you see on many of the bikes on this page: a wide-low double crankset and an 8-speed casette in the rear. This was my first time building a bike with V brakes. They’re relatively simple to install compared to cantilevers! I also ended up using mostly black components, which initially felt kinda wrong and I couldn’t help but include a few silver accents, but I’m really pleased with how the black on gold looks!
