Brewery Passport Update

home posts

I've visited quite a few breweries since my adventure on the Red Line. I have 19 stamps now!

Larimer

East End Brewing Company

East End Brewing has a brewpub less than a mile from my apratment. So, I just rode my bike there through Mellon Park and Bakery Square. I got a pint of Everyday Pilsner.

Bloomfield

The Church Brewworks

The Church Brewworks is an old church that's been converted to a brewery and restaurant. The fermenters are situated behind a huge glass wall in the area where I imagine the church organ used to be. I biked West on Liberty Ave accross Bloomfield to get there and drank a pint of Celestial Gold, their German Pilsner.

Lawrenceville

Burghers Brewing Company

I had to pick up some bike parts from a shop right across the street from Burghers one day. I took the P1 bus to Herron Station and walked a few blocks to where both are in Lower Lawrenceville. I had a pint of their Kolsch and Helles Lager.

Eleventh Hour Brewing Co.

Eleventh Hour is around the corner from Burghers. So, I take the same bus to get there. Had a pint of their Pilsner.

Lolev Beer

I was riding my bike Downtown and stopped to visit some friends in Lawrenceville on the way home. We get dinner at Lolev, which had a cheese steak food truck that day. I had a two pints of their Pilsner. To get home, I biked up Stanton Ave through Stanton Heights, then followed Liberty Blvd to get back to Shadyside.

Hop Farm Brewing Company

I got this stamp in the same outing as Lolev. I had a pint of their Extra Special Bitter.

The Strip

Cinderlands Beer Co.

I was working from my company's office one day and Cinderland is across the street. So, I went there for dinner after work. I took the 88 bus from East Liberty to get here. I had a pint each of their Helles Lager and Italian Pilsner.

South Side

Vellum Fermentation

I went to Vellum after running an errand at the REI nearby. I rode my bike for this outing. You can get to South Side pretty quickly from Shadyside by following Neville Street South to Junction Hollow Trail. From Junction Hollow you can get on the Eliza Furnace Trail and cross the river on the Hot Metal Bridge. Follow the on-street bike routes from there to Vellum. It's collocated with a rock climbing gym. I had a pint of their Amber Lager.

Sly Fox Brewing Company

I visited Sly Fox on the same trip that I visited Vellum Fermentation. The most comfortable route between the two is via the segment of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail that runs East-West along the Monongahela River. I had a pint of their Pilsner with some french fries.

North Side

Southern Tier Brewing Co.

I biked to Souther Tier while heading to meet some friends in Lawrenceville after visiting Sly Fox.
From Sly Fox you can ride your bike across the Smithfield Bridge. One across the Monongahela, follow the river trail West to Point State Park. From there ride on the Fort Duquesne Bridge to cross the Allegheny to the North Shore. Southern Tier is at the bottom of the ramp to the bridge. I had a pint of their Blonde Ale.

Allegheny City Brewing

I visited Allegheny City Brewing during Picklesburgh. It was really hot out that day and they have misters on their shady patio, which was so rejuvinating. I took the P1 bus from East Liberty Station to downtown, then walked across the Andy Warhol bridge and cut through Allegheny Commons Park to get there. I had two pints of their Kolsch. I'll definitely go here again. Loved the space and the beer.

Etna

CoStar Brewing

I rode my bike here from Lawrenceville. You can ride on the sidewalk across the 40th Street bridge. After crossing the river, I rode North from Millvale in the siding of the train tracks that follow the Allegheny River to Etna Riverfront Park. From there I just zigzagged beneath the highway interchange there to get to the main road where CoStar is. I had a pint of their Kolsch and Cream Ale with some pizza from a food truck outside.
